Versed Skincare 30 Day Review

I’m late to the Versed Skincare game. I had seen ads hit my phone here and there, and since I’m going all in on stepping up my skincare game, I finally decided to give it a shot. With it’s insta-worth packaging and budget-friendly price point, I just wanted to figure it out – is Versed skincare good?

What is Versed Skincare?

Versed Skincare is a clean beauty skincare line founded by Katherine Power, the CEO of Who What Wear (you know, that popular line at Target). Launched in May 2019, Versed launched with 19 products, for a variety of skin concerns.

When Katherine saw success with the Who What Wear collection – the fact that it’s an affordable and stylish clothing line accessible to everyone – she wanted to recreate that same entity in the skincare space. The same customers shopping WWW, were struggling to find skincare that was not only clean, but one that wouldn’t come with a steep price tag. Enter Versed Skincare.

Everything in the Versed Skincare line is $20 or less. How are they able to do it? By investing in formula first, and less on things like packaging. They also have a focus on sustainability and ethics, and creating a product that people will love. They pride themselves on being a community drug store brand, meaning they heavily involve their community of customers when it comes to product decisions.

Their products follow the EU standards, which bans over 1,300 toxic ingredients. Not only are they non-toxic, but they’re cruelty-free and vegan.

Versed Skincare Products

I decided to look for products that could help my skin feel less congested and make me look bright and flawless (hopefully). After searching the site, I settled on two.

Just Breathe Clarifying Serum

versed skincare just breathe clarifying serum

What I liked about this serum is that it’s meant to help calm the skin down. Chronic inflammation is known to be a major contributor of early aging (no ma’am), so I often look to products that will help keep my skin chill.

This is “a serum designed to clear out impurities and manage excess pore-clogging sebum.”

Price: $19.99 for 1 oz

Standout Ingredients:

  • Willow bark extract, helps with soothing the skin
  • Zinc blend
  • Niacinamide, benefits include help with aging and blemish-prone skin

The Shortcut Overnight Facial Peel

versed skincare overnight facial peel

I struggle with clogged pores and generally feeling like my skin just needs to be purged. I use one chemical peel treatment right now from The Ordinary (AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution). When I came across this peel, I liked the idea of it being an overnight treatment.

This overnight peel contains a “blend of lactic and glycolic acid (which work together to break down dead skin cells) and vitamin A (one of the most powerful and proven anti-aging ingredients available) exfoliates, brightens, and hydrates while skin-conditioning allantoin, rosehip, and vitamin E keep skin calm.”

Price: from $9.99 for .05 oz. They also have a 1 oz version for $19.99.

Standout Ingredients:

  • Lactic & Glycolic Acid
  • Vitamin A
  • Rosehip Seed Oil
  • Vitamin E

First Impressions

The branding of Versed Skincare is chic, and muted. The pastel colors make a nice addition to my other skincare products. Unlike my other serums that come in glass bottles, the Just Breathe serum comes in a plastic bottle. Mostly all components of Versed products are meant to be recyclable.

The Just Breathe Clarifying Serum recommends 3 drops on freshly clean skin. I found that four drops does the trick. The serum is absorbed into my skin nicely, and it doesn’t feel like there’s any additional residue left.

For the Shortcut Overnight Facial Peel, I was a little nervous that I would overuse the product, and run out quickly, since I opted for the smaller tube. After washing my face, I used about a dime-sized amount, and my face felt sufficiently covered with product. It’s worth mentioning that it’s not an actual peel-off product.

Since the Overnight Facial peel isn’t meant to be used with any other products, I was worried I’d feel dry since I wasn’t using a moisturizer after. But the peel doesn’t leave my face feeling tight at all. There’s no tackiness, either. It’s not a product you’d feel uncomfortable having on your face for such a long time.

Included in my package was a sample for the Find Clarity Purifying Mask. Despite the explicit note of it purging your pores without leaving your skin dry, my skin was left dry, with the slightest sensation of tightness. I followed up with my normal moisturizer and didn’t look back.

Ingredient List

The proof is in the ingredients. Here is a breakdown of the ingredients in both products.

Skin Check-In

I’m getting better at these check-in’s…I hope. I managed to capture how my skin was the first and second weeks while using the products.

Week one:

Week two:

I don’t see any dramatic differences in my skin, even now that I’m over 30 days into using the products.

30-Day Review

Here’s how I’m feeling after 30-days:

Pros:

  • The Just Breathe Serum makes a nice addition to my nighttime skincare routine. It’s meant to calm the face, and I enjoyed my experience using it.
  • Neither products caused me to break out, or caused any irritation.

Cons:

  • While I liked the Overnight Facial Peel, I don’t think it worked miracles. If anything, I think it helped maintain my skin in between more intensive chemical peels. I think it’s a good product for someone who is new to chemical exfoliation, and doesn’t want to overwhelm their skin.

Final thoughts: Versed Skincare is an affordable and accessible skincare line that’s ideal for people who are just getting into skincare. With all of their products under $20, it’s a relatively “risk-free” way to try new products.

I would definitely look into trying more products from the brand!
